Graduate Degrees in Modern Shamanism & the Science of Healing

Ubiquity University is partnering with The Jaguar Path Institute to offer students an opportunity to earn postgraduate degrees (MASc, PhD) in Modern Shamanism and The Science of Healing.

The Jaguar Path Institute’s 9-month training offers a comprehensive certification in shamanism, blending an integrative approach to personal and collective well-being and healing. With a focus on Peruvian shamanism, the program honors the ancient teachings and cultures from which these lineages stem, while also incorporating elements from modern science, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, and holistic practices such as yoga and Tai Chi to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health.

Students who pursue and complete the certificate program with The Jaguar Path Institute will qualify to apply for Ubiquity postgraduate degrees.

Those who have enrolled in, or completed, coursework with The Jaguar Path Institute may begin the application process with Ubiquity University​

About The Program

This degree program integrates the Jaguar Pathway coursework with Ubiquity University’s academic offerings, focusing on thesis and dissertation writing.

The Jaguar Path Institute’s flagship program, Modern Shamanism & the Science of Healing, is a nine-month practitioner training that certifies individuals in Shamanism and holistic approaches to personal and collective well-being.

Deeply rooted in Peruvian Shamanism, this course examines the connections between modern science, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Yoga, and Tai Chi to provide students with a comprehensive skill set for addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of health.

We recommend that your program begins with Ubiquity’s Creative Journey to Dissertation course, which will give you the tools to shape, and eventually write, your thesis or dissertation. You will then continue your Modern Shamanism & the Science of Healing studies program with Jaguar Path, and return again to Ubiquity for the higher education credential.

This degree includes Ubiquity’s academic courses in addition to 9-weekend sessions that are broken down into 3 trimesters, - Serpent, Jaguar and Condor

About the Jaguar Path Institute

Established in 2007, The Jaguar Path School of Modern Shamanism & the Science of Healing deepens connection to the natural world and holistic healing through personal practice and application. Rooted in ancient wisdom and modern knowledge, our programs offer teachings from the traditions of Shamanism, Yoga, and Tai Chi to catalyze personal growth, environmental stewardship, and spiritual expansion.

The Ubiquity Graduate Degree

The Ubiquity Graduate Program combines the US and European designs of graduate programs with a blend of taught learning with research and writing. The thesis or dissertation must demonstrate excellence at every level. It must show awareness of the history of the literature in your particular area; demonstrate careful analysis and understanding of the field in question; and, most importantly, show how your insight can be applied to the real world. The dissertation must be scholarly and utilize extensive bibliographical data and footnotes. It should, in other words, be an impeccable work of research.

The Creative Journey to Dissertation -
Finding Your Voice, Making your Mark

The “Creative Journey to Dissertation” is a 1-week intensive designed by our Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Gyorgyi Szabo. The course is a critical part of the dissertation writing process and is a requirement for all MA/PhD candidates.

Support during your Graduate Program

During your graduate dissertation writing you will be supported by a Major Advisor of your own choosing, as well as optional writing courses and writing mentorship.

Stacey Gibbons
Mentor and Teacher

Stacey Gibbons is a prominent teacher of healing and shamanism. The co-founder of Shamanic Reiki Worldwide, she has studied extensively with shamanic teachers of diverse backgrounds and has practiced and taught Traditional Reiki and Shamanic Reiki since the 1990’s. She has taught Shamanic Reiki online training intensives and year-long Shamanic Reiki Master Teacher apprenticeship programs for years with Llyn Roberts, the creator of Shamanic Reiki.
She is certified in Peruvian shamanic approaches, as a Traditional and Karuna Reiki Master, in Advanced Kolaimni Healing, and multiple forms of yoga, including Jaguar Path, Forrest Yoga, Power Vinyasa, and Trauma-Informed Yoga. She developed a holistic multi-disciplinary program for teens at New Hampshire’s Mountain Valley Treatment Center, a short-term residential treatment center, and has been a faculty member at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies for over a decade.

Bridget LeRoy
Mentor and Teacher

Bridget co-founded The East Hampton Independent in 1993, which became The Independent newspaper, and functioned as the arts editor and company president for the first seven years, returning as managing editor in 2015. During her tenure, she was the recipient of more than four dozen regional and national awards for journalism and editing. She has interviewed everyone from Steven Spielberg to Martha Stewart, from the Clintons to Julie Andrews, Linda Ronstadt to Jane Fonda. 

Bridget also co-founded CMEE, the Children’s Museum of the East End. She bought, renovated, and ran the New London Inn from 2004 to 2010, and created the “Gnus of Gnu London” community art project, which raised money for an arts center in New Hampshire.

Barbara Vaccar

A compassionate and visionary leader, Dr. Barbara Vacarr has spent 30 years spearheading bold initiatives that inspire individuals and organizations to create meaningful change in the world.
Barbara has been the CEO of Kripalu Center, President/CEO of Goddard College, and pioneered the PhD in Adult Learning and Human Development program at Lesley University. Her inclusive, uplifting approach to leadership has sparked profound paradigm shifts in workplace culture.
Barbara is an organizational consultant, a coach, an ordained interspiritual minister, and holds a PhD in psychology and human development. She sits on the boards of the Findhorn Foundation and the Berkshire Center for Social Justice, and consults numerous mission-driven organizations. In her practice, Barbara facilitates embodied experiences that nurture presence, authenticity, gratitude, and awe—a sense of reverence for the magic and mystery of life.

Nina Crist
Founder of the Jaguar Path

Since the age of 17, Nina Crist has lived, breathed, studied, and taught martial arts, fully immersed in the essence of each style, including Karate, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, Tai Chi, Chi Gung, Kung Fu, and more. As a black belt with the title of Master, she is honored to be a keeper of this ancient wisdom, and to share these beautiful practices with all who are drawn to them.
Nina’s teaching is inspired by decades of traditional martial arts training, to make these ancient practices accessible to everyone.
It is her life’s work to peel back the layers of dogma and fear surrounding this ancient wisdom, ensuring that individuals from all walks of life and at all stages can benefit from it.

Ray Crist
Founder of the Jaguar Path

Ray is a world-renowned visionary who offers his teachings from a deep well of knowledge of indigenous wisdom. He has been an apprentice and an initiate of the Q’ero Nations elders since 2006 and has shared the ways of living with thousands of spiritual seekers. Ray has traveled the world and has spent the last three decades immersed in shamanism, various styles of yoga, Chinese medicine, and martial arts. He has been offering workshops and trainings at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, NY Open Center, Yoga Journal, Blue Spirit, Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, and other centers worldwide.
