Short Bio:

Larissa Demel worked in AIESEC as global responsible for youth implementation of SDGs

She is currently the Special Olympics’ manager of youth engagement for Latin America, responsible for the outreach and engagement of the 154 million youth in Latin America.

She has published papers on social innovation through youth action on the SDGs which is being used by over 50,000 young people in 126 countries.

She has also created a SDG social project framework for young people, and has been a contributor to the Young Person’s Guide to Saving the World.

Nano-course Description:

This nano-course was created to give the learner a holistic understanding of the Sustainable Development Goal 1, the underlying issue as well as contributing factors to the issue, financial inclusion and anti-poverty tools. The learner will learn to analyze data points on poverty and be able to identify the differences of levels of development between developing countries.

Nano-course Learning Objectives:

1. Understand SDG 1 – No Poverty in the wider global context

2. Self-reflect on your values and attitudes about poverty in your community

3. Develop a simple plan of action to begin to create change in your local community
