Art as Global Social Witnessing

Course Description:

In our understanding, the essence of art is to crisscross our habitual ways of perceiving life/reality. Art has the potential to bring frozen perceptions/pictures/conceptions back into motion. Art-making itself is an ongoing process of researching and questioning reality. Playing with reality and building bridges between seemingly disparate items. Art is an important tool to perceive and presence the multidimensional aspects of life on earth, in our cosmos. Through art, we can envision other, new, future possibilities, realities. Due to its inherent beauty and playfulness, art brings a crucial resource to cope with and change reality.

We set up a program, inviting you to experience this potential of art, inviting all of us to tune our instrument as witnessers and to experience witnessing processes.

We arranged a bouquet with different Arts, like drawing and visual art, somatic experiencing and poetry, photography, choreography, dancing, improvisation, film making, yoga, and music.

The link between these specific art practices is:

  • their capacity to enlarge our awareness and perception, to enhance our relatedness,
  • their invitation to see, feel, presence, play, love, imagine, and to dance together, with us, with life, with the reality we are living in and co-creating together.

This artistic program is embedded in daily meditation and witnessing practice. Global Social Witnessing is an art of itself, the art of co-creating a subtle “installation” of awareness in relation to individual and collective events. In this hour Participants are invited to turn their inner lens back on themselves to integrate and digest what is alive in/for them during the conference.
